DEVELOP A COHESIVE BODY OF WORK

Portfolios are essential for anyone pursuing a creative career. They provide a snapshot of your creative thinking skills and technical capabilities, and give insight into your interests and potential. A strong portfolio can earn acceptance letters and land jobs. This course gives students the opportunity to diversify and solidify not only their technical abilities, but also their creative thinking skills, and can include 2D, 3D, and multimedia work. We strongly recommend this course for students who are applying to post-secondary or masters programs in any creative field.

ALISON GUAN

Program Director of IDA New York

Co-founder and Program Director of IDA, Alison is a member of the American College Admissions Advisory Association and the Admissions Advisory Association. She imparts her knowledge of painting enthusiastically while constantly enlarging her own body of work. Through a wide variety of proven academic and contemporary methods, she has developed an ability to mentor her students, ensuring that their point of view is expressed with the utmost clarity. Her guidance has allowed them to overcome their creative blocks and to gain valuable confidence in putting together a successful portfolio. Research and development and self-challenging learning modes are at the core of her teaching method. She has found a unique way to navigate today’s multidisciplinary context, providing a framework for artists to think outside of the box. GAAC has attained an international reputation with the Scholastic Art and Writing Award, where it snatched more than 20 gold and silver medals. Her guidance and unwavering support have propelled her students to New York Fashion Week, Vancouver International Art Exhibition, and the International Art Exchange Exhibition.

MAGGIE LO

New York School of Interior Design

Born in Taipei, Taiwan. After finishing high school in Canada, she continued her education in New York, USA. Since her family are in design business, she has always been closely engaged in space design. She has developed a strong interest and emotion in art and, and accumulated a lot of practical experience. She opened her design firm during her junior year in college, her projects location includes North America and Asia. Maggie is currently the head of IDA's New York branch and the director of IDA's International Teaching and Research Department. She is committed to studying the theory of artistic thinking and exploring various teaching models, and in traditional arts. She seeks to construct a new perspective on the basis of teaching. Adopt heuristic creative teaching in teaching, emphasizing that the core meaning of the work is greater than the technique itself. Leading students to expand the width of thinking through the methods of questioning, experimentation, observation and association. Also encouraging students to challenge various media, issues, and performance techniques.
